We're happy to announce Webshipper now supports Shopify Risk Detection on order data.
Risk Detection is a Shopify feature, which runs all incoming Shopify orders through a multitude of fraud checks in the Shopify system. Depending on how many fraud checks are triggered, Shopify will assign orders with one of three Risk levels:
- cancel: There is a high level of risk that this order is fraudulent. The merchant should cancel the order.
- investigate: There is a medium level of risk that this order is fraudulent. The merchant should investigate the order.
- accept: There is a low level of risk that this order is fraudulent. The order risk found no indication of fraud.
These values can now be imported to Webshipper to help prevent sending orders to fraudulent customers.
To enable Shopify Risk Detection in Webshipper, go to your Shopify order channel settings through the Connect menu:
Make sure you're on the Order Channel tab and find your Shopify integration in the list.
When found, click your Shopify order channel to expand the side-view and click Edit order channel in the top right corner:
Once inside the Shopify settings in Webshipper, find the section Import settings and you will see a checkbox next to Include recommended risk action.
Check this box to enable the setting and remember to press Update order channel in the top right afterwards to save the change.
2. Using Shopify Risk Detection in Webshipper
After enabling Recommended Risk Action in the Shopify order channel settings, orders will now be imported to Webshipper containing an additional order attribute with a value of either cancel, investigate or accept. This value will be found under the Details panel in the order view, like in this example:
If your Webshipper subscription includes the workflow feature, you can automatically lock orders with cancel or investigate as risk values with a workflow like this:

The free text value listed in On what condition should a workflow run? is the following:
Once this workflow is activated, orders will automatically lock in Webshipper when the values cancel or investigate are present.
